About YCNP
Youth Career Navigation Program
1. Program goals
This program aims to give young people a two-year exploratory period to help them better understand themselves and their future directions in life through self-developed plans and practical experiences. Youths can design individualized learning and practice plans, based on their personal interests and goals and according to their own pace. Program participants can explore and develop their interests through such avenues as work experience, start-up internships, volunteer service, and domestic and international travel.
The program emphasizes the core capacities built up by young people during the process of discovery. It focuses on self-awareness, independent thinking, and resilience in the face of uncertainty. Participants will be equipped with the qualities and motivation they need to take on future challenges.
2. How the program works
2.1. Personal proposals and practical exploration
We encourage young people to submit their own experiential learning plans, based on their personal interests and at their preferred pace. Proposals can explore various avenues, such as workplace experience, start-up internships, volunteer service, and domestic and international travel. Real world settings help young people gain experience and self reflect.
2.2. Phased funding system
The maximum funding for a project is NT$285,000. To support and encourage young people on the path to executing their plans, funding is delivered in three phases according to the progress of implementation.
2.3 Progress reports and expert feedback
We have designed a fortnightly feedback mechanism with an expert counseling team to regularly review reports submitted by participants, offer them concrete advice and support, and help them achieve steady progress, make continual improvements, build up experience, and grow in confidence.
2.4. Further education assistance
To smooth the transition into further education for participants who have completed the program, we have organized special admission, flexible course selection, and other college entry mechanisms.
2.5. Military service assistance
Participants may apply to defer their military service in accordance with the regulations so they can fully commit to the program.
